The ban on professional Hearthstone(a online card game) player is outrageous. The ban comes after the professional in question wore a gas masking whilst saying free Hong Kong. The Chinese company tencent owns roughly 5 percent of Blizzards(the company that owns Hearthstone) stocks. This raises the question on how powerful China is thses days? Well they aruabley have just as much power, or even more, than the US as they were affectively make an American company, Blizzard, to do its biding. We also look at the NBA as an example for China's growing influence as they moved to ban broadcast from the NBA after a spokes person for the Houston Rockets spoke out in support for the Hong Kong protest against China. Undoubtedly, China has shown that it has potential to overthrow the US and become the largest superpower in the world.

It's amazing what a country can do when it has a strong economy. It seems that the powerful players in the political feild such as China and the U.S have capacity to overthrow any instiution that doesn't work well with them. Even the American democracy is at risk.
ReplyDeleteAlittle off topic perhaps but I find it interesting that American health organisations such as the Diabetes society are being funded by the corporations such as Beef U.S that are advocating the known food groups that may cause tye two diabetes. Money is powerful and bans on card gamesfor political reasons and food lobbying definitely shows this!
