Here's a bubble chart plotting level of democracy (and means) against responses to various questions in the world values survey.
For example, if you click on the link, you should see a plot of the fraction of people who either agree strongly or agree with the statement "Democracy may have problems but it's better than any other form of government" against the polity score in 2000.
Is there any pattern? What are the countries that express the highest approval for democracy? Is this what you would have expected if culture mattered for democracy?
