Hey,
Came across this article this week and am very interested in seeing what
everyone thinks about it. Basically Sweden’s new foreign minister took aim at
Saudi Arabia’s treatment of women in society as part of her attempt to bring a
feminist perspective to foreign policy. Understandably Saudi Arabia was not too
pleased by this and threatened to block trade with Sweden, most notably in arms
(Sweden is a significant arms exporter). No one else in Europe or Sweden seems
prepared to back her up and more or less want her to let it slide. What does everyone
think about Saudi Arabia’s apparent ability to get the international community
to overlook its subjugation of women?

What do you think the international community should do about this, Michael?
