The idea of the link between wealth and democracy that - that prosperity creates room for citizens to form different more emancipatory values - that was discussed in lectures this week is interesting to me because looking at the exceptions (being prosperous non-democracies) for examples Singapore as we have looked at in previous weeks tend to have a lot of democratic features - is that to try and meet the emancipatory values that have been borne out of the prosperity - or are they prosperous because of the democratic features?
