Ex-ministers arrested in Guinea

Genuine fraud, or attempt by the government to silence former allies?
Generally in kleptocracies, charges of fraud brought against former government ministers are used to denounce and humiliate fallen political 'players', and remove them from power, as was seen in Mobutu's Zaire. Indeed, Guinea ranks very highly on corruption perception indices, suggesting that the accusations are aimed at removing the former ministers from power.

  1. If there is fraud involved, all the better for the government; at least their actions have the air of legitimacy.
