Several people have posted about Zimbabwe, here and in our other blog. For those who want to know more, a very good short introduction to current politics in Zimbabwe is this article by Bratton and Masunungure in the Journal of Democracy, entitled "Zimbabwe's long agony."
For a contrasting perspective (implicitly defending Mugabe's regime, at least up to a point), see Mahmood Mamdani's article in the London Review of Books. This is the best (or least bad) case for Mugabe I can find; it's only fair to link to some critiques of Mamdani's piece as well (some might call Mamdani's piece an apology for a dictator).
I keep track of news articles about Zimbabwe here.
