Based on our current focus on competitive authoritarianism, I found an article on The Conversation from the perspective of a Hungarian Green Party politician. The article discusses the similarities in the rhetoric and actions of President Orbán and former President Trump. The hijacking of the right-wing media in Hungary is compared to the media apparatus that the Republicans have through news channels such as Fox News. Additionally, the undermining of the judiciary in Hungary by Orbán is compared to what Trump has done by filling the Supreme Court with loyalists. The article is worth a read to see some examples of creeping competitive authoritarianism.
