Kenya has suffered political instability and coalition failures, but international pressure continues to ask them to make it work in fear of violence returning. But is an ineffective government really going to solve the problem?
The link in the title is to an article in the Economist on the coalition probems Kenya is facing. In attempt to regain power from the National Rainbow Coalition the political part KANU (Kenya African National Union party) joined with government defectors forming the Orange Democratic Coalition and won in the election against the National Rainbow Coalition. However the coalition is a shaky one and members fail to agree on issues. The instability is only maintained due to a fear of both losing power and for the violence of past years to return.
The economist article gives a broad description of the problems the coalition is struggling with.
