Martha, it's a little more complicated than a coup; I have a post below with some discussion of Thai politics. The previous prime minister was overthrown by protests much like the current ones, with a little help by the judiciary and the apparent neutrality of the armed forces. The coup in question was a different one, led by the Thai military against a previous prime minister.
