Looking at benevolent authoritarianism like the lecture this week touched on, I watched this video which discussed Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore and his time in government. The video discusses both positive and negative impacts of his leadership, mentioning how his governance ultimately promoted the rapid economic success of the country and the high living standards for a large percentage of Singaporeans as well as touching on the lack of civil liberties the people had due to the strict control at the time. The video is around 10 minutes but it was an interesting watch following the lecture this week.
