In staying with the theme of benevolent authoritarianism, and especially Singapore as an example, this article by Channel News Asia presents one of the most iconic examples of Singaporean authoritarian instances, and how the public can agree to these elements and want their use. The public can support authoritarian elements, and possibly feel safer under them, does this mean that it would be better this way than in a more democratic system?
