Week 5 Blog Post

In regards to this weeks lectures surrounding personalism and institutionalised rule I decided to look more into personal rule and how power is concentrated within regimes that fall under this bracket. A part from the article i’ve linked below talks about the level in which these personalist regimes can operate at due to the advancement of technology which helps to both monitor, censor and spread misinformation in order to push the agendas of those who hold power. This kind of shows how those who fit into the mood of personalism are able to exercise their power onto those they govern by constricting their beliefs to fit the image of the leaders agenda. Although the article is from a few years ago, I definitely think it paints a good picture of the concerning rise in personalist rule in a time like now where things are forever evolving as well as mentioning its impact on foreign policy and decision making as a whole.
